Guidelines for Presenting Authors


English is the only official language of ICUD 2017 Prague, therefore all types of presentations must be prepared and delivered in English. The time reserved for each presentation varies according to the presentation and session type.

  • Standard oral sessions - slide presentation 12 min + discussion 3 min
  • Standard poster sessions - flash slide presentation 3 min + poster + discussion around posters 30-45 min
  • Special sessions - presentation formats and times are specific for each session.
    Special sessions can include:
    • oral presentation by session designated speakers + discussion
    • author’s oral presentations + discussion
    • author’s poster presentations comprising flash oral presentation + poster
    • discussion blocks
  • Plenary keynote lectures - short introduction 5 min + oral presentation 30 min + discussion 10 min

Oral Presentations

Oral presentations are organized in 90-minute sessions comprising 6 presentations in 15 minute intervals. A maximum of 12 minutes is reserved for a slide presentation and 3 minutes for discussion.

Authors are asked to follow the assigned time strictly, the remaining time for the presentation and discussion will be announced and controlled by the session chair.

Supported presentation formats

Please, prepare your presentation preferably using PowerPoint version 2010 or 2013, however versions 2007 and 2003 are also supported.

Supported file types:

  • Presentation - PPT, PPA, PPTA, PPTX, PDF
  • Video- AVI, MPG, MKV, MOV, MP4, WMV
  • Audio- WMA, MP3, WAV

Please note the presentation needs to be prepared in 16:9 ratio.

Speaker’s preview room - Uploading your presentation onsite

In the SPEAKERS´ PREVIEW ROOM (room 2.2), you will be assisted by the technicians, who will help you upload your presentation to the intranet. You will also be able to review your presentation and to verify that it has been transferred correctly to the network.

Your presentation must be uploaded as much in advance as possible, but no later than TWO HOURS BEFORE the beginning of the respective session. Presentations for an early morning session must be uploaded the day before (except Monday September 11).

When uploading multimedia files, do not forget to double check all your video files and all links to these multimedia that files are functional.

Speakers‘ preview room will be available in the following times:

  • Monday, September 11, 08:00 – 18:00
  • Tuesday, September 12, 08:00 – 18:00
  • Wednesday, September 13, 08:00 – 18:00
  • Thursday, September 14, 08:00 – 18:00
  • Friday, September 15, 08:00 – 13:00

In the lecture room

Your presentation will be transferred directly to the lecture room through the intranet.

Once the presentation is launched on the computer in the respective lecture room, you will advance your own slideshow using the remote control.

All speakers are requested to be present in the lecture room 10 MINUTES BEFORE the session starts to meet with the session chair. Please, do not come at the last minute with your own computer into the lecture room: you will NOT BE ABLE to connect it. All presentations must be uploaded in the SPEAKERS´ PREVIEW ROOM beforehand.

If any problems occur, there will be assistance staff in each lecture room.

Flash Presentations with Posters

Poster presentations are organized in 90-min sessions. Within a session, displayed posters will be introduced by a 3-minute oral flash presentation at stage containing 3 slides (NOT MORE!!!!) in a supported MS PowerPoint format. The “3-minute madness” block of flash presentations (10-15 in a row) will be followed by a discussion around posters in the remaining time.

Authors are asked to follow the assigned time strictly, the remaining time for the presentation and discussion will be announced and controlled by the session chair.

Thursday September 14, 2017
Mounting and removing of posters - September 13, 8:00 – 8:30  September 14, after the session

  • Drainage impacts - September 14; 16:15-17:45 - Terrace I.
  • Sustainable drainage and impact mitigation II. - September 12, 14; 16:15-17:45 - Meeting Hall V.
  • Tools, techniques and analysis II. - September 12; 16:15-17:45 - North Hall
  • Water management and society - September 14; 16:15-17:45 - Meeting Hall IV.

Each poster will be displayed in the given room for two days (Monday-Tuesday, Wednesday-Thursday).

In case you miss the deadline for mounting, mount your poster during any break. Do not mount the poster when parallel sessions are running in order to not disturb the ongoing programme.

Posters should be removed at the end of the day of your presentation. Posters remaining past the last day of the conference will be removed and discarded by the organizers.

Information about posters organized in Special Sessions will be provided prior the ICUD based on the instructions from Special Sessions conveners.

Poster dimensions

Each poster board will have a specific number. Please, make sure to mount your poster on the poster board with the number corresponding to the number assigned to your poster presentation.

Poster dimensions (portrait orientation) are 90 cm width and 120 cm height (35.4 in x 47.2 in).

Your poster must not exceed the recommended size. The organizers will provide suitable fixing materials, and onsite assistance will be available to help you to display your poster.

Poster printing

The organizers offer the possibility to print your poster out onsite. To avoid carrying the poster all the way from your home and any possible damage or loss, you may send us your poster via e-mail and we will print it out for you. You can then easily pick it up at the Poster desk onsite.

Authors interested in the printing service should send their posters in PDF format (printing quality) to Once your poster is checked, our personnel will get back to you with a confirmation. The price for the printing service:

  • Posters sent in advance (received and paid by September 9): 45 EUR
  • Posters printed onsite: 55 EUR
