Financial support for Early Stage Researchers from the CEE region

General information

Financial travel support may be available to selected early stage researchers (EST) from the Central and Eastern European Countries (CEECs) to foster personal contacts among ESTs from CEECs, including those within the international urban drainage community. Early stage researchers who wish to apply for financial travel support to attend the International Urban Drainage Conference (ICUD) in Prague must meet the eligibility criteria listed below, and submit an extended abstract of their conference paper by March 1, 2017, together with an application for the travel grant. The ICUD Financial Support Selection Committee will assess the applications received and decide about awarding support to the selected authors. All applicants for travel grants will be notified of the Committee’s decisions by May 31, 2017. The Committee’s decisions are final and cannot be appealed.

Eligibility criteria

The eligibility criteria for receiving the travel grant are as follows:

  • Applicant’s age under 35 years, as of March 1, 2017.
  • Working in one of the CEEs countries, including: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine.
  • To be the first and presenting author of their contribution to the ICUD conference.
  • Submission of an extended abstract by March 1, 2017, using the ICUD conference abstract / paper submission system, on any conference topic and subtopic, including those of special sessions.
  • Submitting an application for Poul Harremoës Award competition by March 1, 2017, and
  • Submitting a CV by March 1, 2017, to the following email address: funds@icud2017.org

Awards of travel funds are further governed by the following conditions:

  • Acceptance of the applicant’s extended abstract for oral or poster presentation based on the results of the standard conference review process.
  • Presentation of the abstract/contribution at the conference by the funded author, who should attend the conference for its entire duration.
  • Display of a poster in the Special Session Progress and challenges in stormwater management in the CEE region.
  • Individual support grants will be awarded to the presenting author for a specific abstract / contribution only. Support grants are non-transferable.
  • Financial assistance towards travel and participation expenditures may be provided at the discretion of the ICUD Financial Support Selection Committee to a maximum of €200.
  • Only the granted amount stated in the ICUD Financial Support Selection Committee’s email will be paid out to the supported author.
  • There is not legal claim to obtain the travel fund.
